Another Quinte Red Devils product is taking the next step in his hockey career.
Belleville native Andrew Laurin has officially signed an Ontario Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Ottawa 67’s, the club announced Wednesday.
Laurin was selected by Ottawa with the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection after an impressive season with the Quinte Red Devils U16 AAA program.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound winger recorded 26 goals and 25 assists for 51 points in 34 games during the 2025-26 season. He followed that up with 12 points in eight playoff games and led Quinte at the OHL Cup with five points, including three goals, in four contests.
Ottawa General Manager Jan Egert described Laurin as a powerful, goal-scoring winger whose game continues to develop, while also praising his combination of pace, physicality and competitiveness.
For hockey fans in the Quinte region, Laurin will be a familiar name.
He spent the past three seasons developing with the Quinte Red Devils and finished second on the U16 team in scoring during his draft year. His performance helped make him one of the top players available from the region in the 2026 OHL draft.
Laurin will not be the only former Red Devil making the jump to major junior hockey this season.
Former Quinte teammate Lauchlan Whelan was selected 16th overall by the Windsor Spitfires, just two picks before Laurin, and signed with Windsor earlier this summer. Whelan led the Red Devils with 54 points in 34 games last season, while Laurin finished just behind him with 51.
The two forwards will now begin their first OHL seasons on opposite sides of the league, giving local hockey fans a pair of familiar names to follow throughout the 2026-27 campaign.
For Laurin, signing with the 67’s makes official the next chapter of a hockey journey that began close to home.
From Belleville and the Quinte Red Devils to one of junior hockey’s most recognizable franchises, Laurin will now look to turn a productive minor hockey career into an impact role in Ottawa.
